No-More-Humdrum Mittens Swap Questionnaire

How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? I've been knitting for 43 years. Learned when I was 8 from my older cousin who lived across the street.

  1. Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?  advanced
  2. What are your favorite colors? Any you dislike? I love greens, burgundy, pretty much any "nature" colors. I do not like blues or pastels.  My dressy winter coat is burgundy leather and my everyday one is sage green.
  3. Do you like Latvian type patterns? If so, what are your favorite patterns? I do and I like Elizabeth Zimmermann's Norwegian Mitten pattern.
  4. Do you desire mittens for yourself, your "special someone else" or your child? myself would be great. I knit mittens for everyone else and rarely make myself some.
  5. What other things do you enjoy knitting? socks, shawls, sweaters
  6. What sort of needles do you enjoy working with? (straights vs circs, bamboo vs aluminum) circs. My favorites are old nylon ones
  7. What’s one project you’ve not yet tried but are dying to make? none really
  8. What’s one yarn you’ve not yet tried but are dying to work with? Noro
  9. What other hobbies do you have? Do you spin? Sew? Garden? Cook? I sew, quilt, crochet, and our entire family ballroom dances
  10. Besides yarn, do you collect anything? green depression glass and kids. We have six biological children, two grandbabies, three adopted children and we foster parent. We have one foster daughter we are planning to adopt.
  11. What kind of goodies do you enjoy? Sweets? Salty? Anything you hate or are allergic to? Love chocolate of any kind, hate coconut, love taffy
  12. Do you have any kids? Pets? 9 kids, three daughter in laws, one son in law and two granddaughters. Two dogs and two cats
  13. What is your favorite part of Winter? snow, I love snowstorms!
  14. What is your least favorite part of Winter? chapped skin. I tend to get really sore hands. We live on a small farm so I have to be outdoors a lot.
