I made a new "curtain" for my sewing room. I purchased new sets of great bamboo circular needles in 16", 24", and 32" as well as 5" double points and crochet hooks from a great vendor on Ebay. Needed something to store them in so I sewed a curtain for the bottom half of my window. Works great! Also, notice the colorful holders to keep my double points together. I found out that the pencil grips you can buy at Dollar Tree work great to hold your needles together if you cut them into small slices!
Finished a nice pair of "Pittsburgh Steeler" socks. Had to use Microspun by Lion Brand to get the colors I wanted. Not too crazy about working with that yarn but, did like how they turned out. The yarn is very soft. The colors aren't very good in the picture. The yellow is really a bright gold.
Our 24 year old participated in a "Dancing With the Stars" type competition at Walsh University in Canton, Ohio. She and Micah are so amazing! You can see them dancing here:

This is a close up of them:
My 16 year old daughter went to her first Homecoming Dance Saturday night. Didn't she just look gorgeous? She went with her friend Austin who scored a touchdown in Friday night's game!
Cathi and I had a craft table at our local Community Yard Sale on Saturday. She got caught knitting away. We froze, it was only 45 in the morning and might have reached 60 by afternoon.
If you've added your name to the invite request list on our front page then you can use this form to check your place in line.
How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? I've been knitting for 43 years. Learned when I was 8 from my older cousin who lived across the street.
I've joined the Hemlock Ring Knitalong and am up to row 39. Pictures later. It's a great fun pattern to knit but be aware there is an error in row 35. You can find the knitalong group here:

Presenting the world's cutest two year old, or at least in her "Me-maw's" book! This is my latest picture of my granddaughter Onya.
Knit a Harebell Lace Dishcloth using Sugar and Cream Stripes Cotton. It will be a gift for my swap partner in Duluth. Hope she likes it.
We had such a lovely weekend. Jackie was home and attended the high school football game with Wayne and the girls. I was a bit under the weather and stayed home for a lovely evening of peace, quiet and reading. Saturday we caught up on chores then had great fun playing games and family dancing in the evening. Sunday was quiet and ended with a three mile walk at the park. Monday was super. We headed off to the Canfield (Mahoning County, Ohio) Fair. Spent the afternoon checking out all the sights and the evening at a Big and Rich concert. It was fantastic!
Finished up another couple of pairs of footies for this fall. The pink pair went off to my swap partner. I sure hope she likes them.
Finished yet another pair of socks. These are made with Sinfornia cotton yarn and I really like them. The yarn is very silky soft. I've been doing a lot of sewing in the past week and am making some cute "wrist" bags for knitting socks while walking.
My best bud, Cathi is doing a table at our community garage/craft sale and said I can sell some of these there. I'm also sewing large slouch bags that work perfect for knitting bags. It's sitting in my new wicker chair Cathi found at Hobby Lobby for $18! What a deal!
I've caught a great case of "finish'em up-itis" and am working on completing quite a few projects. Below are just a few. I've been knitting with silver wire to make bracelets and the socks are a project I started in Alaska. I bought the worsted weight yarn in Anchorage and knit the first sock on during the 12 hour train ride from there to Fairbanks. They'll be wonderful with clogs this winter.
My 24 year old daughter, Jackie recently went to Virginia to visit my oldest son, Mike, his wife Karrie, and my granddaughter, Kat. This is Jackie and Kat swimming.
Kat and Karrie went on a "Mommy and Me" cruise last weekend to the Bahamas. Kat looks like she was enjoying the water.
Here's her pattern:
Here's the second questionaire for Secret Pal 11.
1. What is the one knitting accessory you could not live without? My row counter
2. If you're heading on vacation, do you take knitting with you? Sure do If so, how much and what type of project? I take along two projects, a complicated one for quiet time (usually a shawl) and an easy pair of socks for noisy times
3. Where have you travelled to that you'd consider your favorite spot? Alaska. We went there in June and traveled all the way south to Seward and all the way north to North Pole City and Fairbanks. I can not wait to go back again. We also have a summer place in the North Central Pennsylvania mountains that I love going to. I'd rather be there than just about anywhere.
4. What is your favorite knitting book at the moment? All of Elizabeth Zimmermann's Do you own it? yes I own all five and Meg's books
5. Do you listen to podcasts? yes Which is your favorite(s)? Knit Picks, Unwound, and Pointy Sticks
The local knitting guild I belong to recently had a great class on gauge. The swatches everyone made were donated to me for a lapghan. Below is a picture.
It will be donated to the VFW for use at the VA hospital. Another of our members, Sandy donated some knit strips that needed to be joined together. It turned out to be a lovely blanket and I'm planning on donating it for a yard sale our group is having to raise money for a local boy who was critically injured a few weeks ago.
